Alarm 5e spell – how to get around alarm spell?

Alarm 5e ( Ritual )

1st level Abjuration (Wizard, Ranger)

Level: 1

Casting time: 1 Minute

Range: 30 feet

Components: V, S, M (a tiny bell and a piece of fine silver wire)

Duration: 8 hours

How do 5e Alarm (ritual) spells work?

You set an alarm for uninvited guests. Specify a door or window within the cast distance or select a cubic area with sides no longer than 20 feet. During the spell’s duration, any tiny or larger creature that touches or enters the target area will trigger a 5e alarm spell. When casting a spell, you can decide which creatures will not trigger an alarm, and you can choose whether the alarm method is audible or mental.

If you choose a mental alarm and you are within 1 mile of the target area when the alarm is triggered, a “ping” alarm sound will be heard from your mind. If you are sleeping, the alarm will wake you up.

If you select an audible alarm, it will ring for 10 seconds within 60 feet when the alarm is triggered.

Discussion about Alarm 5e

The alarm goes up after they cut Leosin loose. Dugrak turns into a badger & sneaks off. (—@EmbersDS)

Like a lot of the items in 5e DnD, they fit into a playstyle rarely played. When was the last ambush heavy campaign? Most times it is solved with a spell or a simple perception roll to really giving alarm items a use.

Spells and their ability to solve every problem are the problems. (—@ArtofLeogrim)

Back at work tomorrow. Alarm at 5. So obviously I’m skim-reading the DnD 5e Player’s Handbook in spite of having no hope of playing.
