Duration: 24 hours

How does dnd 5e Animal messenger spell work?

The dnd 5e animal messenger allows you to use animals to convey information. Within the cast range, specify a miniature beast you can see (such as squirrel, blue jay, or bat). Choose another location you have visited and described the basic information of the recipient, such as “a man or woman wearing a town guard uniform” or “a red-haired dwarf wearing a pointed hat”.

Finally, say a piece of information that does not exceed 25 words. The target beast will go to your chosen location for the duration of the d&d 5e animal messenger. Flying couriers can move 50 miles within 24 hours, while non-flying couriers can only move 25 miles.

When the messenger arrives at his destination, he will mimic your voice and pass the information to the person you describe. The messenger will only pass the message to someone who matches your description.

If the messenger fails to reach its destination within the spell’s duration, the information will be lost, and the beast that used to be the messenger will find its way back to the place where you cast the spell.

Discussion about dnd 5e Animal messenger

Animal messenger: nothing stops you from trying to attach a letter as well to the Tiny beast?

Parents of teenage Bards, Druids, and Rangers beware – if not used as a ritual, the Animal Messenger spell will cost them spell slots, and may incur additional charges to your casting plan. Encourage your kids to adventure in person rather than over a distance.

In my DnD 5e group we’ve decided that, while all druids speak Druidic, they tend to use it so rarely that they are all terrible at it. Hence my character starting an Animal Messenger message with, “Greeting, it me Elaine, Amisandra-girl-child. To visit like would you…” (—@Klezmerstyle)
