Hallucinatory Terrain 5e

You make the natural terrain within a 150-foot cubic area within the cast range visually, auditory, and olfactory like another natural terrain.

Hallucinatory Terrain

  • Level: 4
  • Casting time: 10 Minutes
  • Range: 300 feet
  • Components: V, S, M
  • Duration: 24 hours

Therefore, an open plain or a road may become like a swamp, or hills, rifts, and other difficult terrain, or even impassable terrain.

A pond may look like a meadow, a cliff like a gentle slope, or a rocky ditch like a wide flat road. The processed buildings, equipment or living things in the area will not be changed.

The tactile characteristics of the terrain will not change, so creatures entering this area may see through the illusion.

If the tactile difference is not obvious, a creature seriously investigating the illusion can try to make an intelligence (investigation) check against the spell save DC to debunk the illusion.

For a creature that has seen the phantom itself, the illusion looks like a blurry image superimposed on the real terrain.
