Java – My android app crashes in the emulator

My android app crashes in the emulator… here is a solution to the problem.

My android app crashes in the emulator

I

tried to make a simple app and I wanted to add a new Activity, but when I ran my app on the emulator (Eclipse didn’t give me any error) it crashed.

Here is my log:

This is my MainActivity:

package com.example.proyecto_1;

import android.app.Activity;
import android.content.Intent;
import android.os.Bundle;
import android.view.View;
import android.view.View.OnClickListener;
import android.widget.Button;

public class MainActivity extends Activity {

@Override
public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
    super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);
    setContentView(R.layout.activity_main);

Button button1 = (Button) findViewById(R.id.button1);
    button1.setOnClickListener(new OnClickListener() {

@Override
        public void onClick(View v) {
            Intent test_scrn1 = new Intent(MainActivity.this, TestScrn1.class);
            startActivity(test_scrn1);
        }
    });

}
}

Finally, here’s my AndroidManifest:

<manifest xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
package="com.example.proyecto_1"
android:versionCode="1"
android:versionName="1.0" >

<uses-sdk
    android:minSdkVersion="7"
    android:targetSdkVersion="15" />

<application
    android:icon="@drawable/ic_launcher"
    android:label="@string/app_name"
    android:theme="@style/AppTheme" android:hasCode="false" android:allowTaskReparenting="false">
    <activity
        android:name=". MainActivity"
        android:label="@string/title_activity_main" >
        <intent-filter>
            <action android:name="android.intent.action.MAIN" />

<category android:name="android.intent.category.LAUNCHER" />
        </intent-filter>
    </activity>
    <activity android:name="TestScrn1"></activity>
</application>

I

don’t know what I’m doing wrong, I’ve been looking for a solution but I can’t do it, please help me.

Solution

There are several possibilities for your mistake.

  • First set (.) DOT is placed before the TestScrn1 activity declaration
    Robot.
  • Make sure that android:hasCode in your list is not set to false
    File.
  • Clean up your project and run it again.
  • Check Project > Build automatically.
