During your spell duration, the next melee weapon attack hits the target, causing an additional 1d6 points of psychic damage.

Can the Frightened creature choose to attack the Paladin if the Paladin is adjacent?
In DnD 5e, if a Paladin d&d 5e wrathful smites an opponent in an open field and the target fails their save and takes on the Frightened condition, during that turn can the Frightened creature choose to attack the Paladin if the Paladin is adjacent? (— @Tbones005)
