You make the terrain in a 150-foot cubic area within casting distance look, sound, and smell like another natural terrain. Thus, an open plain or a road may look like a swamp, or hills, rift valleys, and other difficult or even impassable terrain. A pond may look like a meadow, a cliff like a gentle slope, or a rocky ditch like a wide, flat road. The appearance of the area’s processed buildings, equipment, or organisms does not change.

The tactile characteristics of the terrain do not change, so creatures entering the area may be able to see through the illusion. If the tactile distinction is not obvious, a creature that carefully investigates the illusion may attempt an Intelligence (Investigation) check against the spell immunity DC to reveal the illusion. For a creature that discovers the illusion itself, the illusion appears as a layer of blurred images superimposed on real terrain.
