You can cast the spell across solid objects, but you must be familiar with the spell target and know that it is behind the barrier. Magical silence, 1 foot thick stone, 1 inch thick ordinary metal, a thin piece of lead, or 3 foot thick wood can block the spell. This spell does not require a straight line to convey information, it can freely turn around corners or through holes.
