Modify Memory 5e

You try to reshape the memory of another creature. Force a creature you can see to make a Wisdom save. If you are fighting the creature, it has an advantage when making this save. When the save fails, the creature will be charmed by you for the duration of the spell.

Modify Memory

  • Level: 5
  • Casting time: 1 Action
  • Range: 30 feet
  • Components: V, S
  • Duration: Concentration, up to 1 minute

The enchanted target is in a state of disability and cannot perceive the surrounding things, but it can still hear your voice. If it takes any damage or becomes the target of another spell, the spell ends and the target’s memory is not modified.

When the charm state continues, you can change the target’s memory of an event that lasted no more than ten minutes in the past 24 hours. You can permanently erase all memories about the event, you can also make the target perfectly and clearly recall all the details of the event, you can even change the target’s memory details about the event, or create a memory about other things.

You must use words to describe how to change the target’s memory, and the target must be able to understand your language so that you can implant the changed memory. The consciousness of the goal will fill in all the missing details in your description. If the spell ends before you describe the modified memory, the target’s memory will not be changed, otherwise the modified memory will be rooted in the target’s heart when the spell ends.

The modified memory does not necessarily affect the behavior of the creature, especially when the modified memory violates the target’s nature, faction, or belief. If an illogical memory is implanted (such as the memory you instilled in the target about how it enjoyed bathing in strong acid), the target will simply ignore the memory or treat it as a nightmare. The DM can also determine that a modified memory is too absurd to affect the key behavior of the creature.

After casting a spell on the target, remove the remove curse or greater restoration to restore the target’s true memory.

Ascending ring cast effect. When casting this spell using a 6th-level or higher spell slot, you can change the target about what happened within the past 7 days (6th ring), within 30 days (7th ring), within 1 year (8th ring), or at any time in the past (9th ring) Memories of events.
