How does hold person 5e work?
Specify a humanoid creature you can see within the cast range. The target must make a Wisdom save. If the save fails, it will be paralyzed for the duration of the dnd 5e hold person spell.
The target can make another Wisdom save at the end of each round. If the save is successful, it will terminate the effect of the hold person spell.
When casting this spell with a 3rd-level or higher spell slot, you can designate an additional humanoid creature for every 1st higher spell slot than the 2nd ring. When specifying a target, each target creature must be within 30 feet of other targets.
